Mauritius aims to become a 100% sustainable island. Want to help? Well…we’ve got just the thing!
Come co-create with Franceska at a workshop full of stories, snacks and drinks, and plenty of laughter. Craft your own unique plate from the island’s beautiful palm leaves and experience a day in the life of an authentic Mauritian craftswoman.
Pretty awesome, right?
Meet Franceska – fisherman’s wife, mother of seven, and an innovative business owner. She’s enthusiastic about supporting her family and her island with her palm leaf creations. And…she’s eager to teach you the ropes!
During our Bel Ombre workshop, Franceska shares her story as you co-create a 100% natural plate from palm leaves handpicked in the village of Château. (We’ll let Franceska tell you why…) These plates are the perfect thing to serve snacks on, take along on a picnic, or add a special natural touch to your home.
Feel the warm spirit of Mauritius, where people and the planet live in harmony. And take home your very own unique, me-made souvenir – a powerful memento of your encounters with authentic Mauritius.

Mauritius is a beautiful island nation known for its stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and diverse culture. In recent years, the island has made significant efforts to promote sustainable tourism and protect its natural resources for future generations. To support this goal, we have developed a sustainable workshop to educate tourists about the importance of preserving the environment and practicing sustainable tourism.
Our workshop is designed for tourists visiting the island and aim to promote awareness about environmental issues, such as reducing plastic waste, conserving energy, and preserving the island’s fragile ecosystems. Participants in our workshop will learn about the latest sustainability initiatives and best practices in the country, and will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities and projects that promote sustainability.
In addition to learning about sustainability, this workshop also provides visitors with a unique cultural experience, as they are led by local fisherman’s wife Franceska, who is knowledgeable about the history, culture, and traditions of Mauritius. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with local communities and learn about their customs and ways of life.
Whether you are a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor, participating in our sustainable workshop in Mauritius is a great way to learn about the importance of preserving the environment while also enjoying a unique cultural experience. So consider joining this workshop during your next visit to Mauritius and make a positive impact on the island’s environment and communities!
