It all started in 2014, when a Mauritian (Hi, I’m Allan!) and a Belgian
(Hello, I’m Heidi!) met by chance in a small local bar—and started dreaming.
Allan grew up in Le Morne Village, where his grandfather spent his life working on Le Morne Brabant under the French colony.
As a boy, Allan was fascinated by his grandfather’s stories—tales of the mountain, the past, and the power of medicinal plants.
These weren’t just stories; they were lessons, passed down with care.
Heidi, touched by the island’s natural beauty and the warmth of its people, instantly connected with Allan’s vision: to share the real Mauritius—honest, rooted, alive.
And so, Local Spirit was born.
